We were sent a free code to enjoy 3 family meals for Hello Fresh and I have to say we have now continued to order these. I was very sceptical at first as I thought the price was excessive for 3 meals for 4 people. However I am now converted. We received everything we needed to actually make the meal (excluding water, olive oil, salt and pepper), everything was weighed out for us and the recipe was so easy and quick to follow it was actually enjoyable to make the dinner. I ordered it to be received on a Thursday as my husband works away in the week so we had the most amazing meals Friday through to Sunday.
I live with my husband, Freddie (7 years old) of course and my 19 year old stepson and there was absolutely loads of food. My 23 year old step daughter ate with us on Sunday and there was plenty to go around.
The nice thing about Hello Fresh is the recipes are changed weekly and so far we have found 3 meals each week that we love. It is also nice to try different ideas. You can skip weeks easily which due to being busy at weekends we have skipped for a couple of weeks.
Value for Money
I added up the value of everything in the box as if I was buying them in a supermarket and yes I could get them slightly cheaper….. BUT…. they come in the correct quantities all weighed out. They are in separate bags per meal and to be honest it is so much easier than trying to think in advance what I am going to make each night for dinner. The cost of a Family box for 3 meals is £53.99 or £63.99 for 4 meals per week.
What did we get to try?
Our first meal we tried was the Sausage Risotto with cucumber salad. I have never actually made a risotto before and the instructions was really easy and everything was already measured out. It tasted delicious even Freddie and myself who are not over keen on rice absolutely loved it.
The second meal was the herby chicken with cheesy mash and garlicky beans, this was my favourite it was so succulent and the mash was just gorgeous.
The final meal was the pan fried gnocchi with pancetta. Freddie’s favourite dinner at the minute is boiled gnocchi with tinned mackerel in tomato sauce!!!! Weird I know and in my opinion the gnocchi is really bland and boring, however, this way of cooking it has opened my eyes to actually incorporating gnocchi in every day meals.
