It is not a secret that I enjoy a nice glass or two of wine, so when I was asked to review the Le Petit Ballon subscription box I jumped at the chance! For those of you haven’t heard of this box before it is a subscription service that delivers 2 bottles of wine each month. You can chose between two boxes; grape expectations which is £24.90 per month or the age of raisin box for £39.90 a month.
I was sent the grape expectations box for review and my goodness is was delicious.
In the box there were 2 bottles of wine a red and a white. I only drink white wine so my husband trialled the red for me, there wasn’t any difficulty getting him to agree though!!
I have never seen either of these bottles before in the supermarkets as I would definitely have purchased the white, purely on the colourful zebra on the bottle! It was a South African white blend and it was absolutely gorgeous. I normally stick to Sauvingon Blanc or Sancerre if I am really treating myself but this Makena was delicious. It was slightly sweeter than the wine I normally drink but it was very nice.
I love the quote on the back of the bottle too:
“someone without happiness is like a zebra without stripes”
Well drinking this bottle certainly made me very happy!
You can buy this wine on their website for £11.90 for non subscribers and I would highly recommend it.
The red wine was a Bordeaux and my husband loved it, he shared the bottle with a friend and they both enjoyed it (the white wine was not being shared by anyone though, that was all mine!!)
You can buy the red wine on their website for £14.90 for non subscribers and was also very nice.
In each box you receive The Gazette, which is a magazine with recipes, hints & tips and our dear winemakers! Plus you will receive tasting notes so you can know everything about the wines you have received.
What I really loved about this subscription box the most was the fact that each month we were trying different wine than we would normally drink, the only downside is its only 2 bottles of wine a month!
