Hi, I’m Chantelle and I love Christmas. You know that friend you have that likes Christmas a little too much? That’s me times a million. I’m a Canadian Expat living in London with my daughter and husband, and am the owner of All Things Christmas. One of the largest and best destinations online to celebrate Christmas, wherever you are in the world.
I love to blog about crafts, recipes, movies, decorating and – you guessed it All Things Christmas. I’ve also written and published a children’s book called My Mother is a Christmas Elf. Happy to try and spread Christmas Cheer far and wide, all year long!
All About Christmas
When do you put your Christmas decorations up?
I start November 1st, but everything should be done by November 25th. We order a real Christmas tree to be delivered the first weekend of December – so that’s when we decorate our main tree. (We have about four in total)
What is your favourite Christmas song and why?
Oh Holy Night is a favourite, especially the Josh Groban version because it’s so beautiful and emotional. However, in recent years I’ve started to really love Bing Crosby’s White Christmas, which I felt was a bit overplayed when I was s kid, but now that I’m older I appreciate the nostalgia.
If you do any Christmas arts and craft what are they?
We always do lots of crafts – mostly for my blog – but also Christmas Paper Garlands for decorating, all sorts of colouring pages, and stickers (so many stickers!)
Do you have the Elf on the Shelf come to visit?
We do not have an Elf on the Shelf – we’re too busy going out and enjoying activities ourselves, we don’t have time!
What is your favourite thing to bake for Christmas? Do you have any Christmas baking traditions?
Since moving to the UK (two and a half years ago from Canada) I’ve started to try and bake Mince Pies every year. I do use prepaid pastry and jars of mince but they’re better than store-bought.
Do you have a Christmas Eve Box for your kids? If so what is included?
This year is going to be the first year that we will have a Christmas Eve box, and I’ll be including Pjs and socks, Hot Chocolate mix, and a Christmas book.
Do you go to either midnight mass or a Christingle church service?
For being so obsessed with Christmas you’d think we’re very religious but quite the opposite, we’ve never been to church, at Christmas or any other time.
What time will you get up on Christmas morning?
Same as every other day I suspect, about 7am. However, sometimes it happens to be even later than regular mornings since my daughter wants to say up so late on Christmas Eve!
Who will you be spending Christmas Day with? Are you doing the cooking?
My mother is here in London from Canada, so she’ll be here for Christmas Day (and the two weeks before and after). I’m sure she’ll agree with me when I say that I’m a much better cook than her, so I’ll handle the feast and she can help with the tidy up.
If money was no object what would you be asking Santa for this Christmas?
I would love to spend a big family Christmas at a cottage in Canada with all of my friends and family members – tonnes of presents, food, and no dishes!
How do you celebrate New Years Eve?
We’re not big New Year celebrations, we might stay up to watch the Fireworks on TV but that’s about it.
